Mother’s Day 2012

Wow. This year’s Mother’s Day was awesome. Perfect weather for our family to go visit Black Creek Pioneer Village, then dinner with the Hatvanis.

I know that one day isn’t enough to show your mother, or the mother of your children, how much you love them and appreciate them for all they do for you (and believe me, Michelle has her hands full taking care of her 3 boys…um, 2 boys and 1 studly man). But at least today, the boys and I took Michelle for a lazy relaxing afternoon at a place where we could have Jack running around and seeing animals….and Harry just chillin’ and sleeping….and Michelle just taking it easy somewhat. Oh, but wait, to make it even more sweeter, we took a detour before Black Creek, to Vaughan Mills….to LULULemon :) (Unfortunately the top Michelle wanted wasn’t there…but she’ll find something else i’m 100% sure of it).

Black Creek..surprisingly was pretty good! There weren’t a lot of people there, the walkways were nice and wide..and had lots of stones for Jackso to throw. There were a few animals, we saw sheep, a horse and some ducks. Not sure if Jackso liked them as much as he liked a padlock on one of the doors. It seems like a good place to just hang out with family on an afternoon, nothing too crazy, just walk around a park with old houses i guess. There is also a brewery on site, Black Creek Brewery, and the pale ale was perfect on the hot day.

Me and the boys with the baaaa..in the baaaack.

Jackso was amazed at how many stones there were!

Harry, on the other hand, decided to take a long siesta

Michelle and her barrel man

Jackso…with more stones.

Finally..leaves. no stones here.

..and Daddy’s prize at the end of the day :0

Unfortunately we don’t have any pics with our dinner with the Hatvani’s at Dave and Busters!! I guess because we have so many pics with them, that it’s all good, if we don’t take pics all the time anymore. We can just see them anytime. Nicky and Jessica (man, i still love that), were good as ever and the boys (Nicky and Jackso) loved the Midway….Jackso was a fighter when leaving lol.

Anyways, HAPPY MOTHERS DAY to all the Mothers out there! It’s a tough job, but you’re the best people for it :)

Love you!

Happy 1st (month) Birthday Harry!!

Our Prince Harry turned 1 month yesterday so, naturally we had to get a cake and do the cake thing. It’s been an absolutely amazing first month for lil Harry, i swear he changes almost every day i see him, he gets more handsome and handsome as the days go on. Maybe he will be a real Prince one day…

Weight: 4.28kg (9.43 lbs)

..and of course, Kuya Jack got in on the action, with a little hug to his little bro..

..and then right after..he goes for the cake.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HARRY!

Backsplash it up!

Handy Daddy is learning. HUGE thanks to B for coming by this past weekend and helping, well doing and showing, and teaching me how to do a kitchen backsplash. We bought tile from the Tile Shoppe, for $5 per sq ft. The same (or very similar) pattern at Home Depot was $19.99!

Anyways, when he got here, of course i didn’t have the supplies except the tile, so we had to go to Home Depot to pick stuff up like:
- ThinSet mortar (stuff dries in 2 hours)
- Trowel
- Non-sanded grout
- Tile Saw (yeah, not sure what i’m going to do with it now but if anyone needs to borrow one, i got one!)
- Sealant (shite is $45!)

Handy B and myself took about 10 hours to complete laying the tile..it may seem like a lot but of course there were breaks in between, the whole preparation piece took a while, but once we started rolling it wasn’t too bad. Until we realized the quick set mortar, really sets quickly and we were only making enough in a batch to last a few tiles..lol.

Also, some of the glass tiles, chip when sawing them or even handling them, so that’s something to watch out for..especially when you have little kids running around the area in bare feet. Of course, they weren’t in the area while we were doing it ..but i vacuumed and swept like 5 times last night just in case.

Ok enough commentary, let’s see the BEFORE pictures:

And now…*drum roll*.. the AFTER pictures (minus the grout)

Freakin’ awesome eh? Looks like a real kitchen now. The next step is to apply the sealant, let it set for a bit, then do the grout to finish it off! Definitely not the 2 hour job i was expecting but then again, i’m a rookie when it comes to going into Home Depot.

Love it!! Now what’s next?!

His daycare friends..

2 days into school, and he can tell you a few of his new friends names. That, or he just hears their names alot and says them..without them actually being friends lol.

Mr. Popularity himself:

Jackso’s 1st day of daycare!!

First day of school and i wasn’t going to miss it. I took a later bus into work to go with Michelle to drop off Jackso to his new school. We stayed and sat in the room for about 20 minutes (from a distance), to let him get acclimated to the new environment, and watch him eat at the table:

Anyways, so far its been great..well 95% of it. Michelle tells me that he cried a bit when she was leaving..i wonder if she cries too. On this first day, she said he was crying for a while – she was crying when we left him, and then she realized we forgot to bring diapers for him so she went back..and he was still crying…oh man, that was hard to hear.

The good thing is by the afternoon, his teacher called and said he was doing much better and really enjoying the painting activity :) Check it out:

So far i really like this daycare that we chose for him. It’s super convenient, fairly new, nice teachers and the ratio of kids to teachers is 5:1. They get to go out each day in the play yard (where i hear he loves the slide) and he gets to interact with kids his own age.

In the next blog post, Jackso will tell you the names of his new friends at school, stay tuned :)

(some of) Harry’s visitors

So i’ve been meaning to put some pictures up of Harry’s visitors but things came coming up, “got too busy”, blah, blah, blah.

Like Jackso, he got a LOT of visitors over the past few weeks, and we still have a lot more to meet, but it’s been a blessing to know all these people are Harry’s family and friends. I should just say family, because if you’re a friend, you’re like family. So don’t mess that up :)

I apologize if i missed someone, since my faithful readers here may not have a pic..i just couldn’t find one on my cameras!! So send one to me if i missed you and i’ll add it right away!

Here’s a brief roll call of Harry’s visitors:
